Henri Saby passes away

It is with a deep sense of sadness that we have learnt the passing away of Mr Henri Saby, former French Member of the European Parliament from 1981 to 1994, main initiator of the 1987 EP resolution on the recognition of the Armenian genocide who fought against Turkish pressure to defend the universal values and just causes.

The European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy realizes the importance of such a loss for Humanity facing to the passing of this human rights defender, engaged in the combat for justice of the oppressed peoples and their right to self-determination, raising awareness in Europe at the very beginning of the "Artsakh movement" in 1988, leading to the adoption of many resolutions on the situation in Armenia and Karabakh.

The European Armenian Federation honoured Mr Saby, in October 2007, on the 20th anniversary of the recognition by the European Parliament of the Armenian genocide, for his decisive commitment to the Armenian cause.

The Federation expresses its sincere condolences to his family and beloved ones.
