3 December 2025, Brussels, Belgium- On the 29th and 30th of November, the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy organized its bi-yearly convention with its European chapters in Almelo, Netherlands.

Chaired by Chairman of the ANC-International Hagop Der Khatcadourian and the EAFJD President Kaspar Karampetian the convention presented a crucial opportunity to convene and coordinate efforts to improve, increase and optimize ongoing activities and campaigns aimed at protecting and fighting in favor of the rights of the Armenian people and overcoming the many challenges faced by the Republic of Armenia.

With 21 attendees representing the most active and politically engaged Armenian advocacy groups in Europe, the gathering in Almelo offered the volunteers an opportunity to review the past year’s activities and their collective responsibilities in securing appropriate international support for the Republic of Armenia in overcoming the current challenges.

The topics discussed included the ongoing efforts for the release of the Armenian hostages in Baku, the protection of the ethnically cleansed Armenians of Artsakh and the campaign for their inalienable right to collective return to their ancestral homeland, the safeguarding of Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh, and the need to increase youth engagement within their respective communities.

The convention attendees also denounced the growing democratic backsliding in Armenia, which undermines the ongoing efforts of the EADJD and its chapters to secure international support for the Republic of Armenia.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the ANC-International, Hagop Der Khatchadurian, stated:

“Europe holds a highly important and unique place within our “Armenian Cause” structure. It is essential, at all costs, to further strengthen the already active work of our Central Office in Brussels and the Regional Committees in various countries, and to ensure they receive the support and care of our pan-Armenian network. In connection with the missions of strengthening Armenia’s statehood, supporting the rights of Artsakh, advancing the recognition of and demands related to the Armenian Genocide, protecting the rights of Armenians throughout the diaspora, and fostering the unity and political engagement of Armenian youth, we all now bear the responsibility to implement the decisions of this conference.”

This year crucial attention was given to improving media outreach and bridging the informational gap between the realities and challenges faced by the Armenian people, the Armenian Church and the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and European institutions.

EAFJD President Kaspar Karampetian congratulated the attendees and thanked them for their continued engagement and dedication to the Armenian cause, stating

“The Armenian nation is going through one of its more dangerous periods in its history with key foundational institutions under constant threat. Nonetheless, our gathering here and the collective sense of responsibility it represents once again highlights and reaffirms our unshakable commitment to challenge and defeat these threats. Through the actions of the EAFJD and its chapters, crucial steps have been taken in the promotion of the right to return and the release of the hostages in Baku.”
