As a result of the work of the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy, Cypriot MEP (member of the European Parliament) Lucas Fourlas, who is also the chairman of the friendship group with Armenia in the European Parliament, is on a fact-finding mission to Armenia April 24-26, along with his office’s assistants.

Fourlas was accompanied by Gevorg Ghukasyan, the head of special programs of the Armenian National Committee’s international office (ANC International) and together they visited the border regions of the Syunik province of the Republic of Armenia. The delegation carried out observations in the areas close to the beginning of the Berdzor Corridor, where, on the bridge of the Hakar River, the Azerbaijani side has illegally installed a checkpoint.

The member of the European Parliament also learned about the details of the clash that took place recently in the vicinity of Tegh village as a result of Azerbaijani provocation. Furthermore, Mr. Fourlas got informed about the incursions of Azerbaijani forces into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. The deputy of the European Parliament met with the head of the community of Goris, a city in the southern province of Armenia.

On April 25, meetings were scheduled in Yerevan with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh, the representative of the ARF Bureau, the head and members of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the RA National Assembly, representatives of the parliamentary opposition, and the head of the EU delegation to Armenia.
