On 6 March, the EAFJD president Kaspar Karampetian, executive director Heghine Evinyan and chairman of the CDCA Belgique Garo Garabed were received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, H.E. Hadja Lahbib.

During the meeting the EAFJD elaborated on the ongoing Azerbaijani policy of ethnic cleansing against the native Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh and the necessity to put pressure on the Azerbaijani authorities to stop this highly destructive and destabilizing policy. Furthermore, the EAFJD emphasized the need to immediately stop the blockade of the Lachin corridor, connecting the Republic of Armenia with Nagorno Karabakh. With the ceasefire statement of 9 November 2020 Azerbaijan undertook the obligation to ensure free and secure movement of people and goods in both directions through the Lachin Corridor.

The EAFJD also underlined the necessity to immediate release the Armenian prisoners of war, illegally held in captivity by Azerbaijan.

As a European civil society organization with a committee in Belgium, the EAFJD expressed its strong commitment to do everything in its capacity to contribute to strengthening the ties between Armenia and Belgium.

The EAFJD thanks Minister Lahbib for the cordial welcome and is looking forward to further cooperation.
