Brussels, November 6, 2023 — Member of European Parliament (MEP) Costas Mavrides (S&D Group, Cyprus), in collaboration with the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD) and the ‘Europeans for Artsakh’ platform, is organizing a conference within the European Parliament (EP), featuring prominent international panelists.

Keynote speakers for the event include: Luis Moreno Ocampo, the former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Irene Victoria Massimino, an international criminal lawyer, former High Criminal Court Rapporteur, and Co-Founder of the Lemkin Institute. Karnig Kerkonian, an international lawyer and lead counsel in several precedent-setting Armenian rights cases in U.S. and international courts.

The conference is dedicated to addressing the situation in Nagorno Karabakh/Artsakh since the 2020 war from the perspective of international law, human rights as well the response of the international community, of the main players involved in mediation, with a particular focus on the role of the EU. 

Before the EP conference commences, a press conference is scheduled at the Brussels Press Club, where the event’s keynote speakers, along with the Chairman of the EAFJD, Kaspar Karampetian, will address the media. Correspondents from European media, individual journalists, and representatives of European think tanks have been invited to the press conference.
